Still alive

Wow it's been about a year since I posted on this thing. First off, obviously I'm still alive, don't think ghosts or zombies can post on LJ, but then I could be wrong. Anyway, big news is that I survived Grad school, or at least the portion necessary to earn my MA, next onward to the Ph.D. In other news I also survived the dig I spent three weeks working at, although sadly the tent I usually use was a casualty, as apparently was my cell. Apparently being stuck in flooded tent that then becomes really really hot during the day is bad for your phone. And having the waterproofing on your tent fail during a really bad rain storm is not good. I started calling it Lake Tent, and we literally had to pick it up and dump the water out. Still I had alot of fun sining around the campfire and working during the day. We found alot of mastodon and cervid bones. Well, that's it for now, I just need to remember to update this thing more than once in my lifetime.

Hmm, well no one can say I've had an uneventful week. First, there was ARCON all weekend, which was very shiny. I missed all my friends and all the role playing, so I had an awesome weekend re-connecting with poeple and gaming. Still trying to catch up on the lack of sleep though, :p.

In other news I'd like to request prayers/positive vibes directed toward my dad who's coming home from the hospital tomorrow morning after getting his appendics out last night. His surgery went great, but he had to stay overnight tonight because he had a fever.

Other than that, life's pretty much approaching what qualifies as normal except the TAP peoples are trying to screw me over (I need TAP loans dammit!.

Finally got accepted into grad school at the University of Albany. Not only do they have a shiny Northeast Archaeology program, they also have a field school with their own site!

Montreal

The long awaited journal entry about my trip to Montreal. I had an amazing time, seriously, if you ever get the chance to go there, then go.

Leslie and I stayed with her Aunt, and we ended up sleeping on the bed from hell. Seriously the thing took us both out within a period of three days. We ended up putting the matress on the floor. Still who needs sleep when you have coffee right?

I think my favorite part of the trip was the Sunday when we all went to the Botanical Gardens, the Insectarium, and the Biodome. Especially the Biodome. My favorite room was the tropical room. They had so many cool animals. There were scarlet Macaws, Hyathint Macaws, golden lion tamerans and some kinda black tamerans. There were also a couple spoonbills who landed on the railings and on the floor. It was funny as hell watching a woman backing away as one walked toward her. I liked the penguins in the arctic room too.

I did alot of shopping in Montreal. In addition to four new shirts, Leslie and I found this shiny amber store in the Underground Shopping Center where everything was on sale. We each got necklaces and rings, and I bought a pair of golden amber butterfly earings. In addition the food is good, especially at Pizzadelic and the Crepes restaurant. Anyway, in summary I had an amazing time, and once I figure out how to upload pics from my camera I'll probably have them up on Facebook.

As some of you know I'm currently working at Burger King (aka Hell of Earth) which is okay except I now have frequent urges to torch the place, or at least kill all the customers, still it's all good, right? Nothing much more to say than it's boring as hell here in Palmyra and I miss hanging out with my friends and I miss all the RPGs. Anyway, I guess that's it for now. Hopefully I'll remember to update this thing more than once a decade.

Welcome to the end of the semester. Let the shit storm begin. I swear to God I want to kill all fuckin' bastards who have me writing fuckin' papers. Seriously the ONLY one who's off the hook for subjecting me to this nightmare is my philosophy prof and that is mostly because she's agreed with to provide letters of recommendation for the Grad Schools I'm applying to over break. Brady is a fucking prick who needs to spend all of eternity buring in the deepest level of hell, or for those of have read Dante, the deepest level of hell that actually has fire and buring involved. I mean hell my R&M prof is nicer than this bastard. Speaking of profs who need to burn, let's add my Iroquois prof to that list. THREE fuckin 2-4 page papers to do before the IN CLASS FINAl on Tuesday. Overkill much?! My prof's a nice enough person he just tends to go way too fuckin' overboard in terms of the tests. Basically I cannot wait till this Sunday when all of this hell will finally be over with.

Oh yeah, my GRE is on Saturday. Wish me luck with that one, I'm gonna need it!

Survived Turkey day with my great aunt, my grandpa, and my parents. Survived 5 days at home without having it out with my dad about Grad school. I think that's a new record. I don't mean to sound so sarcastic, but he's really been getting on my nerves about that. Saw the new Harry Potter movie on Saturday. It was really good, better than the last one. Came back to get a damn note in my mailbox about shit not being unplugged in my room. I thought I was done dealing with Scales Hall bullshit. Guess not. Hey, at least they didn't feel the overwhelming need to search the room this time. In better news my cousin is in the hospital in labor right now. Hopefully by tomorrow I'll be able to find out if my little second cousin is a boy or a girl.
